Why are some events duplicated on Notion?

This is due to changes in recurring events. When you edit a recurring event on Google Calendar and apply the changes to This and all the following events, it will consider the new occurrences as new and will remove the old ones. This is the standard behavior on Google Calendar, as the updated recurring events are considered new.

When these updated "new" events are also synced to Notion, it may appear that you have duplicated events since the old ones are not deleted by default.

However, if you activated event deletion on your Notion Automation sync settings, the old occurrences will be automatically deleted and disappear from Notion.

Prevent unwanted event deletion on Notion

One option to prevent an unwanted deletion is to turn off the setting Allow event deletion on the Sync Settings and delete them manually if you do not want to lose the custom data you provided on Notion. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to My Automations page.
  2. Select Google Calendar & Notion Sync.
  3. Scroll down to Sync Settings and open it.
  4. Toggle Allow event deletion off.
  5. Confirm the changes.

Note: We are working on finding a stable workaround to link recurring event changes between them.
